La Quinta
La Quinta, called the “Gem of the Desert,” has grown over the past decade from a small rural “Easy Valley” town to a lively small city of almost 45,000. The population has increased almost 88% since 2000. La Quinta is one of nine cities comprising the 45 mile-long Coachella Valley, stretching from Palm Springs to the City of Coachella. Each Valley city has its own distinctive personality.
La Quinta’s natural beauty and small town feel coupled with the many dining, entertainment and leisure activities, including an abundance of scenic hiking and biking trails and shopping options, combine the best the Coachella Valley offers. Owning a home in La Quinta is truly a desert lover’s dream. Manicured gated communities with colorful bougainvillea tumbling over walls, surrounded by the natural beauty of the desert’s Santa Rosa Mountains and clear blue skies, make La Quinta the city of choice for today’s active lifestyle.
Owning real estate in La Quinta offers the option of staying busy all day. La Quinta is home to 17 golf courses and the famed 45-acre La Quinta Resort & Club. Built in 1926, La Quinta Resort & Club is a destination on its own. Visit the Spa La Quinta and then dine at one of The Resort’s four restaurants. The Resort sports both hard and clay surfaces for guests at its 23 tennis courts.
As the “Gem of the Desert,” La Quinta’s own jewel is Old Town. It is the city’s social and cultural centerpiece. Art Under the Umbrellas in Old Town on Saturdays from November through April is very popular. It features artists showing and selling their work on Old Town’s quaint Main Street, lined with restaurants, cafes and boutiques. Live music and wine tastings are also a common occurrence along Main Street. Admission and parking is free. La Quinta also features Blues & Brews in November. Sunday mornings in Old Town feature a weekly Farmer’s Market and Crafts Fair.
During the summer, Art & Wine at Old Town Cellar pairs artists and wine from 5-7 p.m., and is a great way to beat the heat. Live rock concerts at La Quinta Community Park fill Saturday afternoons in February.
La Quinta is a vibrant, year-round city proud of its historic past, and looking to the future with social and cultural offerings. All these events represent the friendly spirit that is La Quinta, making it a great place to call home.
